Doing the work when feeling well

I’ve been thinking a lot about different ways for working with a therapist and mostly people seek support to work through challenges. But what I’ve found to be just as valuable is the work I’ve done with my therapist when I’m feeling well and balanced.

Understanding yourself when you feel well - embodying values, what you’re getting enough, how you’re taking care, what it feels like in your body and mind to feel peaceful and content - is a good place to build from.

Expanding your capacity for compassion and love (for self and others) through trying new things is most enjoyed when you’re feeling good within yourself. It’s also a good time to lean into your other feelings - to feel safe enough to do so - with an awareness and resilience to experience yourself in sadness, hurt, frustration, melancholy, for example, with a capacity for just noticing and not analysing or judging.

If you’re feeling well and want to explore this territory to expand your self-awareness and growth, get in touch to book a session. I practice at Rough Patch Affordable Counselling, and private practice in Surry Hills.✨
