This is a peer group for adult (18 years and older) inter-country and local adoptees. We are an Australian-based group but welcome those situated locally and around the world. This is an online space for adoptees to connect and share lived experiences with one another if you’d like to share, or you can join to listen and sit with the stories shared.

This is not a counselling session but we may provide some suggested resources if you need further support.

If you would like to join: please respond to and submit this Google Form with some information about you so we can get to know a little about you before we meet.

Please read the group guidelines. By joining peer group meetings you agree to follow the guidelines.

These meetings will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30-8:30 pm Sydney time AEDT/AEST.

If you do attend, please join within the first 10 mins of the group starting so we know who is present. This helps create safety and people aren't dropping in and out through the time as it can feel disruptive.

By joining our groups you agree to the below. If you do not follow these guidelines we may have to respectfully ask you to leave the group in the interest of safety of the group.

This is a peer support group for adoptees only This is not a counselling session. If you require support from a mental health professional, please seek appropriate help. We have provided some resources below in this document.

Group agreement - this will be stated at the start of every meeting to ensure those participating agree so we can do our best to keep the space safe:

• Confidentiality: what happens in the group stays in the group

• Respect for one another and respecting different experiences

• Not giving advice unless asked

• Sharing time and space, ie: not interrupting, and allowing time for everyone to share

• Note that group facilitators may need to jump into the discussion to keep us on track with the discussion topic, or in the interest of upholding the group guidelines/agreement.

• We encourage you to have your videos on when you join the session. However, if you become overwhelmed or distressed, you may step away/leave the group or turn off your video but please send us a private message to let us know you’re leaving.
