Adoption Resources for Teachers, Doctors and Mental Health Professionals

I'm so proud to be involved with this project, a suite of videos and recommended resources for Teachers, Doctors and Mental Health Professionals about adoption as told by adoptees.

My experience has unique elements about it - as all our stories do. Please listen with an open heart and mind. I've grown up in a family full of love and opportunity, and any traumatic impact does not take away from this. Rather, for me, it's about holding and integrating both experiences.

You can access the resources here: https://intercountryadopteevoices.com/video-resource-for-professionals/

The website states, "We recognise that the adoption experience and associated traumas can be difficult to talk about. Watching these videos may bring up strong feelings for some people. We encourage you to talk to your support network and seek help from services that are available to you, including the Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service (ICAFSS), Lifeline, and any of our recommended global post-adoption support services.

Our lives demonstrate it is possible to experience the challenges and trauma of relinquishment and adoption and lead a positive, healthy life. This is best achieved by having the right supports in place and providing safe spaces where adoptees are able to process and integrate all these experiences. Participating and contributing to projects like this has been one way in which these adoptees have felt supported and heard. Read participant feedback here."
